Assistant Director, UCLA Computer Science Equity Project (Center X)
The Computer Science (CS) Equity Project at Center X works to democratize K-12 computer science education opportunities by increasing access and engagement for students of color, girls, and students underrepresented in CS. Under the general direction of the CS Equity Project Director, the Assistant Director will provide local, state and national leadership to a growing CSforAll movement. This position will be responsible for coordinating a special grant funded project that will build the capacity of community-based organizations serving parent, student, and community groups and low-income families of color in California to encourage and advocate for equity in CS education. Demonstrated experience with culturally responsive leadership practices in Black and Brown communities is preferred. The Assistant Director of the Computer Science Equity Project will focus efforts to ensure CS education is equitable, scalable and sustainable in 5 key areas: coalition building, policy development, K12 teaching and learning, higher education, and research and communications. Even if the applicant does not have 100% of the job requirements, we encourage applicants who are eager to learn and build their skills in education justice. The candidate does not need to have a background in computer science. Bilingual Spanish is preferred.
